Wreck-It Art

I’ve really wanted to draw the last few weeks, but I can’t seem to motivate myself to do it. And I’m not really inspired to draw anything.

The last few weeks I’ve been having a really hard time motivating myself to do almost anything. You know those days/weeks where everything is a chore. And you end up doing nothing all day because it takes too much energy to get off the couch.

Yea, I’ve been having those kind of days lately.

I’ve finally got to the point where I’m so annoyed with myself that I finally just got up and forced myself to do some kind of art.

It didn’t turn out at all what I thought it would. I saw this really cool technique online and I’ve wanted to try it out, so I did. Yea, I’ll have to read those directions again.

After it didn’t work like I wanted, I decided I’d just destroy the paper. I kind of like the way it turned out, all wrecked.

I think it’s what I needed.

Sometimes we just need to shove ourselves over our personal cliffs and force ourselves to do whatever it is we need to do.

Gem Stones.

A group of people looking towards the skies for help, for riches, for an escape. They're too distracted with what they're looking at, that they don't see what some of the gems are attached too, a demon.

The Snake.

The Lord gave me this vision, of a snake, slithering on the ground and then to a person. The snake slithered up the person's legs, the snake wrapping itself around the width of the person. The snake wrapped itself tightly around the person's ankles, their legs and loosely around their thighs, stomach, chest, arms and then the snake's head rested on the person's shoulder. It's mouth toward the person's ear. As the snake moved up, it's grip became looser and looser.

The Lord asked me what I saw. I looked at the image, all I saw was a person wrapped tightly. The Lord revealed to me that sin comes to use slowly. It creeps up on us. It always attacks our steps, where we want to go, where the Lord wants us to go. Sin wants to trip us up.

When we let sin in, it slowly takes over our life. It slowly wraps itself around us. Not tight enough to stop or choke us, but enough to control our movement. Sin moves all through out our life, until it's in the passenger seat. It whispers to us. It tempts us. We allow it to lead us.

Back Down. Don't You Back Down Baby Tonight!

One of my favorite bands at the moment is Philmont. I really love their music and their style. Their music brings me joy and encourages me a lot.

I’d been trying to get to one of their concerts since the beginning of the year, but one way or another, it just never worked out. I started working on a drawing of them. I wanted to give it to them if I ever did get to see them perform. After seven long months (and long breaks) I finally finished the drawing and finally found my way to one of their shows.

I’ll admit, I was obsessing over this drawing. I wanted to make sure I was drawing it to the best of my ability and that it looked just right before I gave it to them. I was so proud of the end product. But when it finally became the time to give it to them - I was nervous. What if they didn’t like it? What if they played it off as “sunshine and rainbows” but secretly cared less.

So here I find myself, in Bedford, TX in a church sanctuary a few feet away from their table and I can’t bring myself to go to them. I take a deep breath, close my eyes and move quickly. They’re all sitting in a corner, in a semi-circle, so I jump in the middle of the circle, hold my gift out and shout: “I have a present!” Ha ha, I have no idea what caused me to do this, but I did.

They all look at me, smile and jump to their feet. They grab the present and stare at it. The wrapping distracts them; they were impressed with my warping skills. After asking questions on what the envelope was covered in, they open it and pull off all the protective layers of foam and card board.

When the drawing is fully exposed in the open, there’s a pause for two seconds and then: “Hey! That’s the drawing from Facebook! You drew that?!” I was shocked, surprised and impressed that they had seen the picture I had posted. I was taken aback when they each started to state back details I had written on Facebook about the process of the drawing.

Britt, a girlfriend of one of the band members', said she saw the picture on my profile and looks at my art; she really likes my style. The band members also mentioned that they looked at my ‘step by step’ pictures of the drawing. I was touched. And I was honored when they placed the drawing on their merch table for everyone to see.

Over all, I was extremely blessed by their comments and their actions. I was extremely moved that they had taken the time to look at my art. They cared enough to look and read the random spurts of a spazzy young girl.

Thanks Philmont.

the Bridge

A canyon with a big break down the middle. Deep in the break are sharpened sticks and freezing water. If the fall won’t kill you the water will.

A bridge was built long ago but was man made and broke. A new bridge was made by God and is strong.

One side of the canyon is life, the other death.

To get to the other side you need to walk through the fire.

Wall Continued

My journey of “the wall” has continued onto another path of a heart.

A harden heart, with a strong brick wall around it, a moat and a fence.

How far will we go to protect ourselves from the creator?

Inspiration

If it’s not apparent - I love art! I love watercolor in fact. It’s my favorite medium to use.

I got inspired recently by an artist named Vermelho from DeviantArt. Love her art work. She uses watercolor along with ink to make marvelous illusions.

I love her style. There are no strong/harsh lines. The colors flow and are vibrant. Nothing seems “locked” into place, everything is free.

Taking her style, I spined it and attempted to do my own.

It’s not how I imagined it in my mind-eye’s but it came out semi cute.

Stars Go Dim vs. SGD Promo Team

I don’t know how I get myself dragged into these projects, but I do – ha.

A request from Sly:
Sly wanted me to draw her a picture of the band Stars Go Dim (SGD) vs the SGD Promo team. With captcha code (a MySpace promo teamer’s worse nightmare), raccoons and a squirrel.

So I came up with the SGD vs SGD Promo Team Dance Off! All the band members are on the left (Chris, Joey, Lester and Michael) and the promo team is on the right (Sly, Cheri, Paula, Eric and me). With an audience in the front watching (raccoons attend dance off’s if you didn’t know).

And we’re all playing captcha dance (it’s like DDR but with captcha code)!

PS – I don’t like drawing faces, that’s why everyone is ‘faceless.’ And I love the fact that Sly is smaller than everyone else; ha ha. And I needed a bigger canvas...

Tools: pencil, water color, paint, markers, sharpies and pen.

Calling.

I was writing in my journal one day. I was asking God to give me visions of Him and of what He desired. As I was writing I started to doodle a little sheep. The Lord called me His sheep.

Sheep aren’t very smart. Sheep rely heavily on their owners. Like any living animal, sheep need to be taken care of: feed, washed, protected, lead, etc.

The Lord was calling me His sheep. He watches over me, He provides for me, and He loves me.

As I started to doodle this sheep, the one sheep turned into two sheep, the two sheep turned into a heard, and the heard turned into a pasture. As I was drawing this out, the Lord kept speaking to my heart that He calls us all to be His sheep. But that many of us get distracted by sheep things (eating, grass, flowers, butterflies, etc.) and that we miss His call to us.

Sheep need to be lead, they need to be directed on where to go, how to get there and how long to stay. The Lord calls us to a place, He calls us to act or react in a certain way, and sometimes, He calls us to speak prophetic words.

As I continued to draw this picture, there were five sheep in a pasture. Four out of the five sheep were busy eating as the fifth one was looking up. The fifth one heard its call and was paying attention; while the others were too distracted to notice anything.

How many times are we the sheep that are too busy or distracted to hear when the Lord calls?

Lie Truth

“And you will know the truth. And the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

There’s lies that have been told to us our whole lives, and because we have heard them so much, they have become true to us. These lie truths take bondage over us and hinder us from full growth.

Once we understand what is truly true about us & who we are and accept the real truths, we will be set free from that bondage and fully feel freedom.

"The Wall"

This picture goes from left to right. The order is the top 3 and then the bottom two.

~The first drawing is a protected heart. A heart hiding behind a self put up wall.
~The second drawing shows the bad decisions that the heart made by allowing bad things into the wall. The bad things destroyed the wall and the heart became harden.
~The third drawing shows the wall getting torn down. The heart is still hardened.
~The fourth drawing shows that Jesus has torn down the wall and made it a pile of nothing. Jesus is victorious on the pile.
~The fifth picture shows that God has made the heart His home.

Stars Go Dim

I copied this drawing from a promo shot.
Reference picture: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=7733646&id=14881285297

I took my own spin to the picture, I really like how everything turned out.

The picture took me about 8-10 hours to draw, color in, water color and to add all the details.

Passion.

The Lord showed this to me in a vision.

There was a time period where the Lord was speaking a lot to me in visions of hearts; basically, my heart in different stages of growth.

One day during worship, I got this vision of a heart jumping up and down with a speaker built in playing music. The heart was worshiping the Lord.

My passion is music. My passion is to worship the Lord fully.

Abandon.

The Lord showed this to me in a vision.

There was a time period where the Lord was speaking a lot to me in visions of hearts; basically, my heart in different stages of growth.

During worship, the Lord reveled to me that I needed to abandon my past loves. I needed to get rid and abandon everything that I use to love, like and that consumed my life. I needed to forsake my old heart and walk down the path to the renewing river to be cleansed and purified.
